This was my thesis for AP Art History, one of the best classes I’ve ever taken. I like to call it a social experiment. Inspired by Duchamp’s Fountain—an artwork that was a turning point to contemporary art and to the question of “what is art?”—I wanted to conduct a social experiment that showed the artistry of art analysis, which attempts to find the answer to “what is art?”
What started out as a social experiment attempting to observe how people react/analyze a random artwork and to perhaps answer the question “what is art?” ended up not answering the question in hand, but providing a different conclusion: art of BS is art on it’s own for BS is not quite BS after all.
